Julie is an internationally acclaimed whitewater professional, having guided on rivers all over the world and competing as a member of the world champion US womenís rafting team since l985. As a graduate of UC Davis and an instructor for over 20 years, she integrates her practical experience with her professional teaching skills. Besides her river time, she worked as a wildland firefighter and has taught agencies as diverse as Fish and Game ,Search and Rescue, Fire Fighters, Coast Guard Rescue Swimmers, the Hoopa Tribe and the Marine Warfare Training Center. Her ability to apply curiculums to the agencies she teaches is one of her many assets..She recently completed an unbelievable self-support riverboard trip down the Grand Canyon and continues to actively guide in the field as co-owner of Arctic River Journeys. She has been featured in such magazines as Outside, Paddler , American Whitewater and Canoe and Kayak. Check out her impressive list of references.

Abigail has been instructing wilderness skills for the past 8 years. She has a strong mountaineering, First Aid and teaching background, Having been a lead instructor for Hurricane Island and Colorado Outward Bound Schools she is great at working with all ages and abilities. She has worked and volunteered for search and rescue teams as well as she was owner/operator of Olympic Mountain Outdoors, a guide service offering backpacking, snowshoeing and backcountry skiing trips around WA state. She has been a rafting guide and kayaking guide for Mountain Travel Sobek. She is currenty a river guide up in Alaska for her new company Arctic River Journeys. When not on a river guiding or teaching rescue she can be found surfing in mexico, skiing in tahoe, or climbing in British Columbia.
